Soundbath
Come for an immersive sound bath experience. In this class, practice “being.” Lay down and receive the healing of sonic resonance moving through your body. Sound has the power to heal and transform emotions, physical sensations, and even the body. With sound waves we can bring our brain wave pattern into a more coherent state facilitating the body’s natural ability to heal. (Due to the specific set up and large instruments required, this is at a special price; please inquire)
Large or small sound baths available.
Musical Meditation
Use your own voice to turn down the sympathetic nevous system, or the fight/flight/freeze response. With simple humming and breathing techniques we can deliver a calming vibration to whole body/mind complex. The long exhales produced by singing and humming affect our vagus nerve which delivers an overall feeling of wellbeing and relaxation to the body. Your instructor will support class with their preferred instrument allowing you to relax or meditate to the sound of live music.
Vision boarding
What will the next five or ten years look like? Most of us don’t stop long enough to consider our long goals or our “why.” We zoom from one thing to the next and before we know it, life is passing us by. Spend time in meditation considering what you envision for your life, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We will then begin looking through magazines and creatively organizing these thoughts into a visual reminder that you can take with you.
Basics of mantra meditation
There is a yoga based technique, mantra meditation, that can help us better control the cascade of thoughts we deal with on a daily basis. Imagine being able to stop those thoughts and immediately move into a state of relaxation, openness and even happiness. In this day and age sometimes it's our own thoughts driving us crazy! Mantras can gentle re-train the brain in the direction of your own choosing. We will talk about the basics in this class and then do a mantra meditation together.
Deep Relaxation with Singing Bowls
Many of us experience the dis-ease of busy-ness with no break until we collapse into bed at the end of the day. If we don’t learn how to return to a calm baseline, our stress may grow day after day and lead to long term, chronic stress. Learn a body-based technique to deeply relax. This class will include the relaxing tones of singing bowls to enhance the experience. Please bring a mat and blanket and pillow if you choose. This will be done laying on the ground. Mats will be provided by Inward Office. (Due to the specific set up and large instruments required, this is at a special price; please inquire)
Yoga Nidra & Soundscapes
For many of us, we aren’t resting enough. Learn a step by step technique called Yoga Nidra, or wakeful sleep, that allows us to release deeply held tension from the muscles and mind.
This technique has proven to be useful for insomnia, releasing deeply held stress in homeless and veteran populations. It has been recommended as a complementary treatment method for PTSD by the Department of Defense. This class will include a short “soundscape” at the end which could be the use of instruments for even deeper release.
Full Body Listening
How can we train ourselves to be better listeners with yoga-based techniques? Mantra and sound meditations can teach us how to access our ability to listen, to deeply sense rhythm, hear silence, and sense our own internal rhythm. This, in turn, can help us to deeply hear others in our lives, as well as listen to our own needs.
Sound & Self-Healing
Many of us listen to music to release stress or express our mood. Think of the last time you used music to create a feeling within yourself or create an ambiance in a room. Sound can affect our physical, mental and emotional body directly. Our bodies are made of vibrating atoms and the sound frequencies around us can create vibrations in our own bodies all the way to the cellular level. Benefits of sound bathing include lower blood pressure, improved sleep, and stress relief. Join us for a full body listening experience. We will both be producing sound and listening to sounds to experience a new kind of healing.
