Stress Resilience: It’s an Inside Job
Born from 10 years of hardship, Marla has learned that stress is the path that leads to resilience. We cannot grow in resilience without climbing the mountain. And it's on that mountain where there are tears, it's messy, and it requires an honest look at our habitual reactions.
How can we shift our perspective so that stress becomes our friend and we learn from it? How can we become comfortable in the process of learning? How can we be "bigger" than our brain's tendencies? What role does self-kindness and self-love play in our own resiliency stories?
Empathetic Communication
Communication takes many forms, encompassing words, emotions, body language, and tone. Even simple words like “yes” or “no” can convey various meanings depending on how they’re spoken. To excel in communication, we must cultivate the skills of active listening and empathetic understanding. This entails learning to recognize not only our own emotions but also those of others, effectively speaking the language of emotions.
We will hone our abilities to identify emotions, actively listen for underlying emotions and values, and interact with empathy. This intensive workshop draws inspiration from the principles of non-violent communication developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. These principles have been successfully applied in diverse contexts, from resolving corporate and political disputes to enhancing personal relationships. Inward Office Owner Marla Pelletier brings her expertise in nada and hatha yoga, as well as mindfulness practices, to emphasize the importance of deep listening—both to ourselves and to others. By participating in this workshop, you’ll gain invaluable insights that can be applied in your everyday interactions with friends, family, colleagues, and students alike. This is best scheduled as a 3–8 class series for a consistent group.
A Musical Approach to Wellbeing
Sound possesses the remarkable ability to directly impact our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Our bodies are intricately connected to the world around us, composed of vibrating atoms that resonate with the frequencies of sound. These vibrations can influence us on a cellular level, offering a unique avenue for healing and rejuvenation.
We invite you to embark on a journey of full-body listening—a collaborative experience where we’ll explore the transformative potential of sound. Join us for this immersive experience with Marla Pelletier, who will be playing the harmonium and teaching you to do vocal toning along with meditation to experience a new way to absorb sound, shifting into a new paradigm of holistic healing and self-discovery.
